January seems to be Movie Month for me….how about you? I recently saw “August: Osage County”
Meryl Streep is acting as the mother who is dying. She does an amazing job of the Critical Parent and a woman who uses drugs to knock out her pain. It’s not only the cancer in her mouth but the emotional pain of knowing her husband an affair with her sister years ago and had a child. She is over the age of 50 which also says her estrogen is down. If you want to read more on this topic of hormonal change…read Dr. Pat Allen’s book “Getting To I Do” where she explains that a woman is more thought oriented and less feeling oriented. You won’t need to be a loving Mom because kids are grown up. She’s criticizing all of her daughter and the men in their lives. In Transactional Analysis the Parent Ego state can be defined as the Nurturing Parent or the Critical Parent. The Nurturing Parent says “I’m ok – You’re ok. The Critical Parent says “I’m ok – You’re not ok. Then it becomes part of your Life Script and until you’re conscious of this it can be a very painful experience for you and your loved ones. There are people who can assist if helping you change. Only if you’re open to it.
During January my book club will discuss the topic of Life Script. If you’re interested in learning more about this contact me at [email protected].
