My recent book club discussed the book “Boundaries” by Dr. Townsend and Dr. Cloud. If you’re having a difficult time communicating with someone (a loved one, a co-worker, a neighbor) then perhaps you haven’t made any boundaries.
What is a boundary? Having rules, guidelines,limits. A person created to identify for him or herself. What are reasonable safe and permissible ways for other people to behave around him or her? How he or she will respond when someone steps outside those limits.
Personal boundaries define you as an individual outlining your likes and dislikes and setting the distances you allow others to approach.
With the work of Dr. Eric Berne and Dr. Pat Allen…I have some communication tools to teach you on any confrontational situations you may experience. The Stroke and Stand, The 5 Step Clean Up, The Validation and the very familiar TIME OUT!
I want people to communicate rationally not EMOTIONALLY for a healthier and happier life.
